Paid Surveys on the Internet

I just got a letter in the mail about Spectra Consumer Research it says they want to pay me to shop and tell them about stores. They sent me a $3,000 check and they said to deposet it in my bank acount and to buy $100 worth of merchandice and to send them the rest of the check and to fax them the recits. It sounds kind of fishy to me but what do you think?
